From Renovation Rescue to Real-Life Advice - Meet HGTV’s Jasmine Roth at the Salt Lake Home Show

 

 

 

Designer, builder, and HGTV star Jasmine Roth has built a career helping homeowners recover from renovation mishaps while teaching them how to create spaces they truly love. As the host of Help! I Wrecked My House and winner of Rock the Block, Jasmine blends warmth, humor, and deep construction expertise—making her one of the most trusted voices in home design today.

Her passion for building started early. Growing up in Virginia, Jasmine spent weekends in her dad’s garage building furniture and playhouses, learning firsthand how things come together. That curiosity eventually led her to study business and entrepreneurship at Northeastern University before launching Built Custom Homes in 2017. Since then, her work has been featured on shows like Hidden Potential, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Brother vs. Brother, and the Emmy-nominated A Very Brady Renovation.

Today, Jasmine continues to expand her reach with Your Happy Home, a platform dedicated to helping homeowners feel confident throughout the design and building process—from major renovations to everyday upgrades.

What tool should every homeowner own? Jasmine doesn’t hesitate: a Milwaukee 12V impact driver. It’s lightweight, powerful, and perfect for nearly any DIY project. She also admits that a battery-powered leaf blower—originally mocked—has become an everyday essential around her house.

What’s always in your bag? A tape measure. Specifically, a Stanley Powerlock 30’. Jasmine keeps one everywhere—her car, desk, kitchen, nightstand, and yes, even her purse.

How do you approach design trends? Jasmine encourages restraint. If you love a trend, sit with it for a week before committing. If you still want it after that pause, it’s more likely to be a choice you’ll enjoy long-term.

What’s one project homeowners should never DIY? Electrical, plumbing, and anything involving gas. Jasmine is firm on this—those jobs are best left to licensed professionals.

What’s your favorite paint color right now? Sherwin-Williams Westhighland White (SW 7566)—a warm, versatile neutral that works almost anywhere.

Why do you love home shows? “I learn so much,” Jasmine says. From discovering new products to connecting with local vendors, home shows are one of her favorite places to get inspired.
